The mobility within the framework of the project Europe Says No to Hate Speech took place between 11-19 July 2019 in Bodo, situated in the Timiș county, in the western part of Romania.

42 youngsters from 7 countries (Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Sweden, Norway, Greece) participated throughout the six days of activities based on non-formal education methodologies to learn, discuss and take action on a broad topic on hate speech.

The participants were accommodated in the shared dorms of Bodo Smart Camp, in mixed rooms with participants of the same gender from other countries. Bodo Smart Camp is a location with accommodation, dining, recreational and sports facilities, ideal for youth activities. It has an excellent position, located in a quiet village in the Timiș county, 65 km from Timișoara and 20 km from Lugoj with easy access from the A1 motorway. Amongst the facilities, the Camp has a generous courtyard for outdoor activities in which the participants can socialize, play games, participate in activities without the worry of being restricted by the space of a closed room. A synthetic football pitch can also be found inside the courtyard for football enthusiasts and not only.  The venue holds …

The project ‘Europe says no to hate speech’ was one of the best exchanges I have ever participated in. We began the exchange by spending the first day just getting to know each other which was effective as it almost immediately turned a group of strangers into a team. That was the most important and unique thing about this project, how all the external influences: location, accommodation, activities and the support of the organisation team made everyone in the group feel included and gave us the feeling of belonging. During activities, we discussed topics that made me realise how oblivious I was to some problematic behaviour that I have witnessed online and I was taught some methods of how to deal with these to help to control the attention given to them. One very special thing that I appreciated about the project was the opportunity to lead a workshop that we were given. It made me appreciate the job of the trainers and facilitators more and gave me a chance to develop my creativity, public speaking and leadership skills.

Projects are not only about learning about the topic but the most valuable things you can take away from these experiences …

Full of excitement – that’s how I felt while traveling to Budapest, wandering around Budapest and waiting for the rest of the Slovak group at our meeting point. They arrived and we all thought we were going to get on the minivan to take us to Bodo, but as we’d later found out there were 2 more hours of waiting ahead of us, because of a misunderstanding that occured. We used that time to get to know each other. The minivan to take us to Bodo finally arrived and we left Budapest. I reamained excited up until we finally reached our destination. We stepped outside the minivan and saw for the first time what would become our home for the next couple of days. I didn’t know what to think first and I didn’t want to put too much emphasis on my first impressions either, so I went to meet the people that had arrived earlier.

A few moments later, I was involved in a conversation and had already casually gotten to know some folks. Our activities during the next 2 days were mainly focused on ice-breaking, getting everybody involved and getting to know everyone. These introductory activities alongside a …

Youth Exchange in Romania “Europe Says no to Hate Speech” was definitely a highlight of the summer 2019 for 6 latvians. We started with preparation and group meeting in Latvia where we all get to know each other, discussed our expectations of the project and proposed how we want to present our country during the project.

In the day X after long traveling we finally arrived in the Bodo village where the project was held. We meet all the participant and were a little bit overwhelmed because there we were over 40 participants in total. But that wasn’t the problem. We almost immediately remembered all names and felt like a family.

First two days were dedicated to the group building and get to know each other exercise. We also agreed that each country should write daily report and post in Facebook group. Cultural evening were also separated among countries. Because of that, we could everyday learn something new and try new food of each participant-country.

In the next days we get deep in the topic, which was dedicated to learn to recognize hate speech and it’s roots, we also get to know some basic Human Rights, we learned about imigration …

Hey, I am Andreas and I just got back from Romania. Me and five more people from Greece took place in the “Europe says no to hate speech” project, held in Bodo, Romania. The main goal of the project was to learn about human rights and hate speech. During the project, we met people from Romania, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Slovakia. It was really interesting how despite our cultural differences we managed to find a way to work, create, and have a good time together. Many of the activities we had helped us being more communicative and getting out of our comfort zone. We learned about other countries, their culture and we tasted their traditional foods and drinks. I had the chance to get to know some really incredible people and make friends whom I will definitely keep in touch in the future. I am very thankful for all the great memories and the experience I gained during my time in Romania! Being part of the Erasmus family is something you cannot describe with words you just have to feel it. So do not hesitate and apply for those projects.

Special thanks to the organization, which sent us ‘’DreamTeam’’ …

Day 7 – 11.07.2019 :

Category:Europe Says No to Hate Speech

Day 7:

❗️Today (Day 7, Thursday), We started with an activity for the participants: each one had a label on their back, and they had to guess what was written on it by listening to the insults said by others.🚫The labels were based on stereotypes, so it was hard enough to offend others. In the end, everyone took part in an open and revealing …

Day 6 – 10.07.2019 :

Day 6:

➡️Ziua 6 (Miercuri).

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

➡️Day 6 (Wednesday). We adjusted today’s schedule so that we can start later, because of yesterday’s visit to Timisoara. ✌️We started in the morning with an energizer, and then we continued with an activity in which the participants had to find their partner to paint their favorite thing, something about this project and a …
